What is CoinMaster?

Combine a base-building strategy game with the chaotic thrill of a slot machine and you have Coin Master. The gameplay is simple: spin the slot machine to perform an action. You can earn coins by attacking other players' bases, raiding players' hideouts, or getting shields that reduce the effect of other players' attacks. Then use the coin you earn to build and upgrade your base's structures.

Coin Master is about as easy as they come, so it shouldn't take long for you to learn the mechanics and start playing. But that doesn't mean there aren't ways to optimize your gameplay and improve your Coin Master experience. Read on for a complete guide to Coin Master, including some tips and tricks to speed up your base building and protect your coin stash from other players.

The essentials

Coin Master starts with a short tutorial that introduces you to the basic mechanics and then gives you the freedom to start playing however you want. It's certainly enough to get you started, but here we're going to cover some of the mechanics that the tutorial doesn't explain.

Everything in Coin Master revolves around getting and spending coins. There are three main ways to earn coins in Coin Master (besides spending real money): 1) winning coins from slot machines; 2) attack other players' bases; and 3) raiding other players' bases. In order to perform any of these actions, you need to spin the slot machine.

The slot machine

The slots are the meat of the game and you will spend a good deal of your gaming time on this screen. You can get to the slot by opening the in-game menu and selecting it or swiping down on the village view.

Below the slot machine you can see your current number of available spins. Every time you turn the machine, this number decreases by one. Once you run out of spins you have to wait some time for them to regenerate. The slot machine in Coin Master has four reels with four different symbols. If you manage to get four of the same symbols in a row, perform this action immediately. These four symbols are: a bag of coins, a hammer, a pig bandit, a shield and a spin capsule.

The bag of coins

The bag of coins, as the name suggests, gives you a coin. Unlike the other images, you don't need a whole bunch of them to get the reward. Each bag of coins you get after a spin gives you a small reward, but if you get a whole bunch of them you'll get a higher payout than four individual bags of coins.

Attack - The Hammer

Get a whole bunch of hammers (the game's graphics imply this is Thor's hammer) and you'll attack another player's base. If you have linked your Facebook account to Coin Master, you can choose a friend to attack, otherwise the game will choose a random player.

The player's village will appear on your screen and you will be asked to choose the building you want to attack. When you attack a building, you get a coin reward and decrease the star level of the attacked building.

Raid - The Pig Bandit

The Pig Bandit is a symbol of a grinning pig wearing a bandit mask. If you get four of these in a row, you'll immediately conduct a raid.

Unlike attacks, you cannot choose the target of your raid. Above the slot machine is the name and picture of your Coin Master, a player who is your assigned raid target. When a raid begins, you will be taken to your Coin Master's village. However, instead of attacking one of their buildings, you get three shovels that you can use to dig holes. There are several locations in the village that you can dig up (denoted by large Xs). Choose three holes to dig; Some of them contain a significant amount of coins. This coin is taken directly from the victim's current coin stash and is a great way to annoy someone.

Defend - The Shield

The shield is used to protect your base from enemy attacks. You can have up to three shields at once, which means you are protected from three attacks. Having a shield when an enemy attacks one of your buildings will protect your building and not drop in star rating.

The same rules apply when attacking a player with a shield. You'll still get 50,000 coins (much less than usual), but the player's building won't take any damage or drop in star rating.

It is important to note that the shield does not protect you from raids.

When you have collected a large number of spins, you can make bets. When you increase your bet, each spin of the slot machine awards multiple spins, but you also increase your chances of winning. Wagering multiplies the rewards you get from slots from slot machines.

village building

Villages serve as "levels" in Coin Master. In each phase five buildings must be erected. In order to complete a stage and move on to the next village, you must upgrade all buildings in your current village to 5-star rating. Upgrading buildings costs coins, and upgrading them gets progressively more expensive as you get further into the game. So prepare yourself for a problem. The buildings have no special effects or functions and are simply markers of your progress towards the next village.

As of May 2022, there are 402 villages, each with their own theme, that you can complete in Coin Master.

The revenge mechanic allows you to return to a player who attacked your village. If your base has been successfully attacked by another player, you will have a chance to receive a knockback.

Just try the slot machine. When you get a full set of hammers, the game will take you to the attack screen and switch to a random village. Pay attention to the top of the screen. There should be a revenge option there. Selecting this option will bring up a list of all players who have recently attacked you. Pick one and you'll be taken to that person's village, where you can lay down the pain.

Cards are earned by opening chests, which are purchased with Coins. There are several themed card packs, and each pack contains nine cards. Collect all nine cards in a collection and you'll be rewarded with bonuses including free spins, a huge influx of coins and even pets.

There are three types of chests that you can purchase. The more expensive the chest, the more cards you will find inside. The quality of cards you can get from a chest depends on your current village level. As you reach the higher village levels, you also have a chance to get special gold cards from the chests you open. Gold cards are simply rarer versions of other cards, and their collections offer much greater rewards upon completion.

One of the most exciting mechanics in Coin Master is the card trading system. You can send up to 5 cards to your friends every day. It is therefore a good idea to participate in Coin Master forums and communities. Many have dedicated card trading areas where you can make trades with other Coin Master players.

As explained in the Cards section above, Chests can be purchased for Coins in the in-game shop. All chests can drop cards with a quality level of up to 5 stars, but the more expensive chests have greater chances of dropping higher quality cards. Higher level chests also have a lower chance of dropping lower level cards than lower level chests. So if you're looking for a specific 1, 2, or 3 star card to complete a card collection, consider spending coins on lower tier chests.

You can also get Pet Snacks, Pet XP or Bonus Spins from chests. These are added to your inventory on the cards you receive, so the probability of a card discard is not affected.

Card drop odds by chest

Depending on which chest you open, you have a greater chance of drawing a specific rarity of the card. Only the Mystery, Ruby, and Valentine chests have a chance to drop a wild card, the rest don't.

The wooden, gold and magic chests are available from village 3. The Small Lucky Chest is available in Village 4, the Small Easter Chest in Village 10, the Large Easter Chest and the Emerald Chest in Village 20, the Valentine's Day Chest and the Large Lucky Chest in Village 30, Sapphire Chest after Village 70 and the Ruby Chest in Village 110.

These are the official probabilities  according to Moon Active  , the developer of Coin Master:

Pet Snack Drops

Only Mystery Chests and Valentine's Chests have a chance to drop Pet Snacks.

Bonus Spins and Pet XP

Emerald, Sapphire and Ruby Chests have fixed odds for Bonus Spins.

The bonus spin probabilities for Mystery, Valentine's, Small Lucky, Big Lucky, Small Easter and Big Easter Chests depend on your current village level. Pet XP works the same way. The higher your village level, the more potential Pet EXP you can get from a chest.

The joker card

The Joker card is an extremely rare card that you can earn by participating in Coin Master events or unlocking Mystery Chests. The wild card can turn into any card you want, even gold cards. Note that Joker cards have a time limit. So be sure to use them before they expire!

Pets are adorable animals that accompany you in raids and attacks. These trusty little creatures also offer cool bonuses to help you on your way to becoming a Coin Master. Pets are hatched by accessing the Pets screen from the game menu or by tapping the egg under the slot machine.

Once activated, your pet will give you the bonus for the next four hours. Once those four hours are up, your pet will fall asleep and you won't be able to enjoy the effects for an extended period of time.

You can speed up the recovery period by feeding your pet treats. You can spend real money to get instant food or spin a slot machine to get treats. Treats are given along with the typical reward you earn with your spin result.

The effects granted by pets can be increased by giving them XP potions that improve them. Like Treats, XP Potions have a chance to drop on every spin on the slot.

Tiger increases the amount of coins you earn after attacking another player. As you level up Tiger, the coin boost increases.

Rhino is unlocked by completing the Creatures Card Collection. When active, Rhino has a chance to block enemy attacks, similar to a shield. Upgrading Rhino with XP potions increases the chances of Rhino successfully repelling an enemy attack. At its base level, Rhino has a 10% chance to prevent an enemy attack.

Foxy is the very first pet you unlock while playing Coin Master, but it's also the most valuable later in the game. Foxy gives you an extra shovel in raids, which means you still have a chance to find a coin or dig up a chest. Foxy unlocks at village level 4.

Tips and Tricks

Don't hoard your coins!

You are always vulnerable to a potential heist that will remove a large chunk of your held coins. That's why you should always spend coins if you can afford to buy them. This is especially important if you are out of shields or haven't unlocked the Rhino Pet yet!

If you have a large stash of coins in your pocket, you are also a prime target for big raids. A Big Raid is a max-stakes raid that, if successful, can end up with the raider running away with millions of your coins!

Big Raids

When you have a lot of spins available it can be tempting to increase your bet amount and enjoy the multiplied spins bonus. This is a perfect way to speed up your coin earnings. However, it is best to save your spins for raiding very rich players.

Above the slot machine you can see the Coin Master assigned to you and their current coin deals. Save your bets for Coin Master with tons of coins. Since the amount of coins you earn from a raid is proportional to the amount of coins the player has on them, you stand a chance of earning many out of many in a very short amount of time just by max betting at very rich Use Coin Masters.

If you decide to play Big Raids, always have Foxy as an active pet. Foxy gives you another shovel to dig at raids for an extra chance of getting tons of coins.

Buy chests in each village

Individual cards do not provide bonuses, but completing a card collection does. You should always buy as many chests as you can afford when entering a new village. Lower level cards become more difficult to obtain as you advance in village levels. As such, the early stages are the best places to get the lower-level cards you need to complete a collection. There's no worse feeling than having to spend a joker to replace the missing common card that you could have got back at the start of the game!

Don't waste your pet's bonuses

Your pet's boosting effect is only available for four hours after you activate it. If you can't play for four hours, consider saving your pet's activation until you have a four-hour window to devote to the Coin Master.

This is true even of the defensive rhino; If your base is under siege, he will only really defend attacks if you specifically send him to do so.
